Requirements for the award of a PCE Certificate for Trainers

Applications for a PCE Certificate can be made by those individuals who are recognised as trainers for PCE psychotherapy and/or counselling by PCE Europe Member Organisations.

In cases where there is no trainer accreditation scheme within the Member Organisation, the Certificate Committee will take an individual decision based on the application. The Certificate Committee is authorised to request further information from the parties involved as needed.

Trainers who hold PCE Certificates are required to adhere to the ‘Principles for Person-Centred and Experiential Training and Further Training’ as outlined below, undertake regular further training in theory development and practice, and contribute to the ongoing development of the paradigm in theory and practice.

Application

Trainers send their Curriculum Vitae (with special reference to their client/person-centred and/or experiential psychotherapy/counselling qualifications and their training experience) to the Certificate Committee together with their personal details and with confirmation of their status as a trainer by their organisation. Candidates who do not wish to be listed in the online register (see below), must include a written statement to that effect.

Certificate

The PCE Certificate will be issued as a paper certificate. The PCE Certificate will be issued in English and signed by a representative of the PCE Europe Certificate Committee. The PCE Certificate may be translated by the respective PCE Europe Member Organisation into the language(s) of the country within which it is being awarded. The certificate will note requirements for its continuing validity (see below).

Validity

The PCE Certificate for PCE Europe Trainers remains valid as long as his/her organisation remains a Member Organisation of PCE Europe and adheres to the criteria for the award of the PCE Certificate. Applicant details are only checked at the time of application. PCE Europe cannot be held responsible for the conduct of PCE Certificate holders after the award of the certificate. If PCE Europe receives reliable information regarding misconduct of PCE Certificate holders the trainers in question will be removed from the directory (see below).

Directory of PCE Certificate holders

A directory of all PCE Certificate holders is available for the public through the internet.

  • This directory lists the name, country, address, phone and fax numbers, email address and website address of the PCE Certificate holder.
  • Trainers can add personal information of no more than 200 words to the directory.
All PCE Certificate holders are obliged to advise the Certificate Committee of changes to their details.

Cost

Applicants transfer a single fee, set by the General Assembly, at the time of their application for the PCE Certificate to PCE Europe. The fee is not refundable.

For the time being the application fee is 150 EUR for Trainers.

After receipt of the fee the application will be processed by the Certificate Committee. If there are any open questions the applicant will be contacted for clarification. If the application is in order the PCE Certificate will be issued and sent to the applicant by post.

PCE Europe sincerely hopes you find this new instrument for visibility and promotion in the public domain useful and look forward to awarding you your personal certificate.
